For five years Ruth has worked with SaxaVord Spaceport, Launch Operators (LOs), Local Authorities, Statutory Consultees and the CAA to navigate a pathway to environmental consent. With the Spaceport now licenced and LO applications in the final stages, much can be shared in terms of best practice, streamlining the application process and minimising impacts on whole project planning.

UK Space Industry Operators are now uniquely placed to lead on environmental control and mitigation – setting the standard for a safe, secure and sustainable future.  Looking ahead, Ruth will set out both the terrestrial and orbital challenges facing operators beyond licencing and set out ways to overcome them.
