Emir Sirage, born on November 23, 1978, has built a robust career in technology, space, and international collaboration, holding key positions at organizations such as CERN, ESA, AIR Centre, and ESO. Currently, he is the Executive Director of the NEW SPACE PORTUGAL Agenda at CEiiA, overseeing investments of nearly 180 million euros, while also directing the Space for Business at Nova SBE – School of Business and Economics and participating as a national expert in NATO’s NIAG-Spacenet. His work focuses on planning and executing programmes in Portugal’s space sector, aiming to strengthen the country’s global presence in this field.

From 2019 to 2023, Emir led the AIR Centre as CEO and COO, where he managed international relations, high-impact projects, and strategic operations. His previous roles include Director of Sales and Business Development at Thales (Edisoft) and Industrial Liaison Officer for organizations like CERN, ESA, and ESO, representing Portugal’s interests in space and technology partnerships. His work has consistently emphasized fostering collaboration with renowned institutions such as MIT, NASA, and Harvard Medical School.

Emir’s educational background includes advanced studies in management, engineering, and space economy, complemented by his role as an expert evaluator and mentor for various technology and space initiatives. Fluent in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish, he balances his professional life with personal interests in sports, travel, and family activities. His diverse experience and leadership have significantly contributed to Portugal’s growth in high-technology and space sectors.
