Portugal Country Showcase: Advancing Space Autonomy and Cooperation in the Atlantic

Portugal is driving space sector innovation through strategic initiatives combining autonomy, cooperation, and interoperability. The Atlantic Constellation, a satellite network dedicated to Earth observation and maritime surveillance built in cooperation with Spain, exemplifies Portugal’s commitment to fostering regional and global collaboration for sustainable development. Complementing this, the space return and access hub in Santa Maria, Azores, positions Portugal as a pivotal player in the space ecosystem, providing unique infrastructure for launches and re-entry missions. This synergy of capabilities strengthens Europe’s autonomy in space while fostering international partnerships.
