Dave Pearah
CEO. SpiderOak
Speaker profile
Dave Pearah is the CEO of SpiderOak, a US-owned and -operated software company that enables secure and resilient data at the Edge.
The SpiderOak Platform – built around the open source Aranya core – raises the bar on managing data on the smallest of devices connecting over the most disrupted networks. SpiderOak’s software is proven in the most austere environments, from the remote battlefield to earth orbit. SpiderOak allows its customers to operate confidently even over contested, adversarial, low-speed networks.
An industry veteran with over 2 decades of engineering, product and business leadership across cybersecurity and the high-performance computing industry, Pearah is leading the company’s charge to drive a new industry standard for secure space communications.
Pearah joins SpiderOak after a successful turnaround of the HDF Group (makers of HDF5) — a federally focused software company in scientific computing — where he championed the creation of Enterprise and SaaS solutions built on the open-source core.
Previously, Pearah was Chief Technology Officer of Cision (media monitoring), overseeing Product Management, Engineering, and IT for the global business. Prior to Cision, Pearah served as CTO and SVP Product Management for Emmi Solutions (patient engagement), General Manager of the ePrescribe Business Unit for Allscripts (electronic healthrecord), and Director of Product Management at Nuance/Dictaphone (speech recognition and natural language processing).
Pearah holds dual master’s degrees in Technology Management and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a recipient of fellowships from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and the Ford Foundation, and was a White House intern.
