Brigadier-General G. Michael (Mike) Adamson joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1993 after completing his BA in Political Science & Int’l Affairs from Carleton University [Ottawa, ON].
Upon receiving his Navigator’s Wings in 1995, he was posted to 405 (Long Range Patrol) Squadron in Greenwood, Nova Scotia where he served as a CP-140(A) Nav/Com and Crew Commander. In 2001 he was posted to 404 (Maritime Patrol & Training) Squadron as an Instructor, finishing his tour as Chief Aircrew Instructor.

Promoted to Major in 2004, Adamson was transferred to National Defence Headquarters [Ottawa] as the Career Manager for LRP Navigators. In 2007, he attended the Joint Command and Staff Program, followed by a staff position conducting an Occupation Review for the Air Navigator trade. In January 2009, he returned to 405 Long Range Patrol (LRP) Squadron as DCO.
In 2010, Adamson was posted to National Defence Headquarters as a Staff Officer while completing his Masters in Defence Studies at RMC Kingston, and was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel in January 2011. He then deployed to CMF Bahrain as Chief of the Air Coordination Element supporting Maritime Security and Counter-Piracy operations. Upon return to Canada he was appointed CO of 405 (LRP) Squadron in 2012.

In 2014 he returned to Ottawa as the Executive Assistant to the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff. Promoted to Colonel in 2015, Adamson was posted to Chief of Force Development as Director C4ISR.

Adamson returned to Nova Scotia in 2017 as Wing Commander 14 Wing Greenwood.

In 2019, BGen Adamson was selected to attend the National Securities Program [Canadian Forces College, Toronto], and upon completion in June 2020 was promoted to his current rank and assumed responsibilities as RCAF Director General Space and the Joint Force Space Component Commander. On 22 July 22, with the stand-up of the new 3 Canadian Space Division, BGen Adamson became the inaugural Commander of the division.
