Louis Head is a senior commercial lawyer with extensive experience advising the public and private sectors on major projects and procurements.

Louis’ practice includes advising the public and private sectors on government/commercial contracts and regulatory matters in a range of sectors including in the technology, aerospace and defence, social infrastructure, transport, and energy sectors.

Louis regularly advises procuring entities and bidders on public procurement matters, including in relation to the Procurement Act 2023.

Louis is recognised for his experience advising on particularly complex major projects and procurements, including in relation to highly-regulated, highly-secure projects, such as defence, space, and nuclear projects.

Louis advises on space missions and related projects including on contractual and regulatory matters. Louis regularly publishes and speaks on space law and policy. Louis works with a global team of specialist lawyers that can advise on the whole lifecycle of such missions and projects – from commercial structuring, procurement, design and manufacture of assets, transport and launch of assets, exploitation and operation of assets in orbit, through to end-of-life/de-orbiting.

Louis has a leading role at DLA Piper in its international aerospace and defence practice.
