Philip graduated with honours in Mathematics from Nottingham University in 1978 and has worked in the space sector since 1982. He spent nine years at Logica (now CGI), contributing to various satellite projects for ESA across France, Holland, and Germany. Returning to the UK in 1990, he served as a technical manager on high-profile missions, including Cassini/Huygens to Saturn, the
Ariane 5 rocket’s flight safety system, and Europe’s EGNOS and Galileo navigation initiatives.
In 2003, Philip joined Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL), playing a key role in securing and delivering major contracts such as GIOVE-A, CFEsat, and Deimos-1. Between 2007 and 2010, he led business development efforts that secured over £300m in contracts for 22 Galileo navigation payloads.
He later became Managing Director of Deimos Space UK, driving rapid growth and leading micro-launch projects. Philip remains active in the satellite and launch sectors, currently focusing on SSTL’s Lunar activities
