David Wade is the Space Underwriter for the Atrium Space Insurance Consortium (ASIC), a Consortium of eight Lloyd’s of London insurance syndicates underwriting launch and in-orbit risks.
David joined Atrium Underwriters Ltd in 2007 to establish ASIC. Prior to ASIC, David had worked for another space insurer (Marham Space Consortium) which he joined as a Satellite Analyst in 2000. Before entering the space insurance market, David had spent two years working in the satellite industry at Satellites International Ltd and six years teaching Satellite Systems Engineering at Kingston University.
David holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Astronautics and Space Engineering. He is also a graduate of the International Space University’s Summer Session Programme. David is an active member of a number of industry groups including the International Union of Aerospace Insurers Space Risks Study Group, the Lloyd’s Market Association Satellite Risks Committee and the Earth and Space Sustainability Initiative (ESSI), upon which he participates as a member of the Executive Committee and a Director. David regularly contributes to conferences and the press and is the author of the space chapter of the Chartered Insurance Institute’s course text on Aviation and Space Insurance.
