Wallonia Region showcase: An innovative space ecosystem in Belgium – Recent research and innovation project developments

The Walloon space sector has been at the heart of Belgium’s space industry. While the region of Wallonia stands out in Belgium for its aerospace offering, its reputation for excellence in the sector goes around the world, and is demonstrated by the number of country partnerships and international clients it can boast. Wallonia’s expertise is recognised internationally, with the region hosting ground stations for the European Space Agency since as early as the 1960s.

The region has also become home to many SMEs that service the needs of the sector, such as companies that provide Multiphysics simulation software, high-precision electrical discharge machining, optical systems, moulded and machined honeycomb parts and engine modules. The presentations will highlight the commercial and scientific achievements of industry players, and raise awareness of the cutting edge research our universities, research centres and institutes are undertaking.
