The critical role of environmental assessments in the licensing of UK space flight activities
The accelerated growth of the space sector in the UK demands an ever greater need to assess, quantify and minimise the environmental impacts of this new and burgeoning industry. A robust Assessment of Environmental Effects (AEE) is a critical requirement of space activity licencing for both Spaceport and Launch Operators and yet can be a significant constraint to operations if requirements are not well understood and executed. In this session Ruth Fain, of ITPEnergised, will share her experience of preparing AEEs for SaxaVord Spaceport and several associated launch operators and give a summary of lessons learnt along the way and pathways to success for future applications.
