PANEL: Digital transformation of space and how it is revolutionising the sector

Fast-paced digital technologies have disrupted every industry since the dawn of the digital age. The digital revolution has also impacted the space sector, both upstream and downstream. The global space ecosystem has embraced digital transformation as it has the potential to empower organisations to produce state-of-the-art, innovative products and services. Digital technologies are one of the crucial foundations of innovation that catalyse the development of products, processes and facilities. From next-generation AI capabilities, edge computing, and digital twins to data-driven decision-making, digital technologies hold the key to solving challenges faced by the space sector. This panel seeks to shed light on the powerful transformation that is enabling growth in the space sector by increasing efficiency and accelerating technical and engineering innovation. It will discuss how digitalisation can support reducing the cost of launching and manufacturing satellites and how it can advance sustainable long-term space operations.
